Room in the Inn

St Rose Church has been involved with the city mission, Room in the Inn, for nearly 25 years. At that time the city decided there was a need to help homeless people with shelter, food, health care and employment. This started with the help of six churches, St Rose of Lima being one. At that time we provided overnight sleeping accommodations and meals taking, turns at the churches. The city soon found a building that would be our city mission and as needs grew so did the number of churches that became involved. The city supplies the building but volunteer groups and churches donate all other needs. No United Way funds are received. At this time the mission can house up to a total of 25 people; men, women and children.

We supply the evening meal every second Wednesday of the month and other churches and groups take their turn in doing the same. An evening meal is donated every day. In some churches the same women or people gather and cook each month. We have relied on volunteers to prepare a meal for our once a month day. Families, friends, and small groups such as scout troops or teachers as well as individuals have provided this service.
