Introit-3 Easter

05-03-2020

Introit: [antiphon] Shout joyfully to God, all the earth, alleluia; sing a psalm to his name, alleluia; praise him with magnificence, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. [verse] Say to God: "How awesome are your deeds, 0 Lord! In the greatness of your power, your enemies will be convicted of lying to you". Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever, Amen. [repeat antiphon] (Psalm 66:1-3)

Herzlich tut mich verlangen

04-07-2020

"The melody to Herzlich tut mich verlangen, "My heart is filled with longing," was written by the German Hans Leo Hassler, but it is best known as the melody to the hymn "O Sacred Head." The medieval St. Bernard of Clairvaux is credited with the text to this great passion hymn. It was one of J.S. Bach's favorites, and he wrote many settings for it, including this one for organ, and most famously in several different choral versions in the St. Matthew Passion."
