Easter Glory

I think that we had a glorious commemoration of Holy Week and celebration of Easter at Saint Rose this year! Beauty really can lead us to what is eternal and transcendent, especially when it is united to truth and goodness.

I have to thank an army of people who made our liturgies and devotions so beautiful, as well as so true and good. The sublime music helped us to engage more deeply with the liturgy, according to the spirit of each celebration.

The flowers and decorations likewise helped to reveal the mysteries we were encountering. Those who participated in many different ways, from those depicting the characters of the Via Crucis to those serving as ushers, all brought dedication to their service to the community. I am thinking as well of the altar servers and lectors and many others. There are necessary workers, whose presence and work are largely unseen. The care of the altar and sacristy are very demanding during these days. There are those who help out in very practical ways like setting up and cleaning up. There are also the catechists and sponsors who prepare those receiving the sacraments over many months, and those who communicate and handle multitudes of logistics.

I also want to thank the other priests of the parish for being spiritual fathers and sacrificing themselves for the spiritual good of the faithful, especially in their generous and gracious availability for Confession. Clean souls add profoundly to the beauty of the feast! Every sacrament conferred is an encounter with the Risen Lord.

The most glorious adornment of the Easter celebration is, of course, the witness of new believers in Jesus Christ! The profession of faith and acceptance of Baptism is the most beautiful, true, and good reality in this world! This weekend we will experience the glory of Christians becoming fully alive in the Body of Christ through Confirmation and Holy Communion. The celebration and beauty continue!

¡Creo que este año tuvimos una conmemoración gloriosa de la Semana Santa y la celebración de la Pascua en Santa Rosa! La belleza realmente puede conducirnos a lo eterno y trascendente, especialmente cuando está unida a la verdad y al bien.

Tengo que agradecer a un ejército de personas que hicieron que nuestras liturgias y devociones fueran tan hermosas, así como tan verdaderas y buenas. La música sublime nos ayudó a involucrarnos más profundamente en la liturgia, según el espíritu de cada celebración. Las flores y las decoraciones también ayudaron a revelar los misterios con los que nos encontrábamos. Los que participaron de muy diversas formas, desde los que representaron a los personajes del Vía Crucis hasta los que sirvieron como ujieres, todos aportaron vocación de servicio a la comunidad. Pienso también en los monaguillos y lectores y muchos otros. Hay trabajadores necesarios, cuya presencia y trabajo son en gran parte invisibles. El cuidado del altar y la sacristía son muy exigentes durante estos días. Hay quienes ayudan de maneras muy prácticas, como instalar y limpiar. También están los catequistas y padrinos que preparan a los que reciben los sacramentos durante muchos meses, y los que se comunican y manejan multitud de logística.

También quiero agradecer a los demás sacerdotes de la parroquia por ser padres espirituales y sacrificarse por el bien espiritual de los fieles, especialmente en su generosa y graciosa disponibilidad para la Confesión. ¡Las almas limpias se suman profundamente a la belleza de la fiesta! Cada sacramento conferido es un encuentro con el Resucitado.

¡El adorno más glorioso de la celebración pascual es, por supuesto, el testimonio de los nuevos creyentes en Jesucristo! ¡La profesión de fe y la aceptación del Bautismo es la realidad más bella, verdadera y buena de este mundo! Este fin de semana experimentaremos la gloria de los cristianos viviéndo plenamente en el Cuerpo de Cristo a través de la Confirmación y la Sagrada Comunión. ¡La celebración y la belleza continúan!
