Dear Fellow Disciples

The three disciples had the experience of seeing God’s beauty in Jesus’ transfiguration. At the same time Jesus manifests the splendor of his humanity, clean from any stain as the Father had planned it for all of us, since creation.

Peter wants to perpetuate this experience that’s why he proposed the building of the three tents. He didn’t even worry about himself and his companions. However that wasn’t Jesus’, God’s plan. They must go down the mountain and continue their journey and discipleship.

We also tend to wish to freeze the time when we experience an epiphany. Jesus’ call is always to gather, to treasure to ponder and to commit with our good experiences of His presence but also to keep walking towards our goal, our homeland, heaven, with Him.

Here at Saint Rose of Lima we are experiencing exactly that, a call to move on in discipleship. Treasuring the good things from the past, the good plans, the gifts and the hopes and keep walking to transform ourselves and our campus more and more in a place of encounter with Christ and His Truth. To become ourselves this place and opportunity for others to encounter Christ, the Prince of Peace, suffering but alive and risen, in His Church.

May the Holy Spirit help during the Holy Season of Lent in our strive to be united with Christ, in the mystery of His life, passion, and resurrection.

Queridos discípulos, paz

Los tres discípulos tuvieron la experiencia de ver la belleza de Dios en la transfiguración de Jesús. Al mismo tiempo Jesús manifiesta el esplendor de su humanidad, limpia de toda mancha como el Padre lo había planeado para todos nosotros, desde la creación.

Pedro quiere perpetuar esta experiencia por eso propuso la construcción de las tres tiendas. Ni siquiera se preocupó por sí mismo y sus compañeros. Sin embargo, ese no era el plan de Jesús, de Dios. Deben bajar de la montaña y continuar su viaje y discipulado. También tendemos a desear congelar el tiempo cuando experimentamos una epifanía.

El llamado de Jesús es siempre a reunirnos, a atesorar, a meditar y a comprometernos con nuestras buenas experiencias de su presencia pero también a seguir caminando hacia nuestra meta, nuestra patria, el cielo; con Él.

Aquí en Santa Rosa de Lima estamos experimentando exactamente eso, un llamado a seguir adelante en el discipulado. Atesorar las cosas buenas del pasado, los buenos planes, los dones y las esperanzas y seguir caminando para transformarnos cada vez más a nosotros mismos y a nuestro campus en un lugar de encuentro con Cristo y su Verdad. Llegar a ser nosotros mismos parte de este lugar y oportunidad para que otros encuentren a Cristo, el Príncipe de la Paz, sufriente pero vivo y resucitado, en Su Iglesia.

Que el Espíritu Santo nos ayude durante el Tiempo Santo de Cuaresma en nuestro esfuerzo por unirnos a Cristo, en el misterio de Su vida, pasión y resurrección.
