Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

In today’s Gospel Jesus teaches His disciples a profound lesson on humility and service. The disciples are arguing about who among them is the greatest. Jesus, aware of their conversation, turns the world’s idea of greatness upside down. He tells them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.”

This is a powerful reminder that, in the kingdom of God, greatness is not measured by power, status, or influence, but by humility and service to others. Jesus Himself models this by taking a child in His arms, symbolizing vulnerability and dependence. In welcoming and caring for the least, we welcome Jesus Himself. As followers of Christ, we are called to set aside our desire for recognition or importance, and instead, serve one another with love and humility. Let us ask the Lord for the grace to see His presence in those we serve, especially the weak and the vulnerable, and to embrace the path of humility, knowing that true greatness comes through love and service.

May the Holy Spirit teach us humility, as the virtue which conquer all kinds of evil.

Queridos discípulos, paz.

En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús enseña a sus discípulos una profunda lección sobre humildad y servicio. Los discípulos discuten sobre quién de ellos es el mayor. Jesús, consciente de su conversación, pone patas arriba la idea de grandeza del mundo. Les dice: "Si alguno quiere ser el primero, será el último de todos y el servidor de todos". Este es un poderoso recordatorio de que, en el reino de Dios, la grandeza no se mide por el poder, el estatus o la influencia, sino por la humildad y el servicio a los demás. Jesús mismo modela esto al tomar a un niño en sus brazos, simbolizando vulnerabilidad y dependencia. Al acoger y cuidar a los más pequeños, damos la bienvenida a Jesús mismo. Como seguidores de Cristo, estamos llamados a dejar de lado nuestro deseo de reconocimiento o importancia y, en cambio, servirnos unos a otros con amor y humildad. Pidamos al Señor la gracia de ver Su presencia en aquellos a quienes servimos, especialmente los débiles y vulnerables, y abrazar el camino de la humildad, sabiendo que la verdadera grandeza viene a través del amor y el servicio.

Que el Espíritu Santo nos enseña la humildad, como virtud que vence todo tipo de mal.
