Holy Family, Example For All Families

Dear Fellow Disciples,

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family—Jesus, Mary, and Joseph—a family united by love, faith, and obedience to God. Their lives were not free of hardship: they faced the uncertainty of exile, the challenges of raising the Messiah, and the silent burdens of daily life. Yet, they teach us how to trust in God through every circumstance.

In the Gospel (Luke 2:41-52), we see a moment of tension when the young Jesus remains in the temple while Mary and Joseph search anxiously for Him. This story reminds us that even in a holy family, misunderstandings and challenges arise. But it also shows us that the key to overcoming them is love and seeking God together. Mary and Joseph’s humility in accepting Jesus’ mission—and their trust in God’s plan—model for us how to live as families rooted in faith.

As we reflect on the Holy Family, we are reminded that holiness is not about perfection but about striving to love, forgive, and support one another. Let us ask the Holy Family to guide our own families, helping us to grow in faith, patience, and love so that we, too, may reflect God’s presence in our homes and to the world.

May the Holy Spirit help our families to become places of peace and sanctity, a domestic church and sanctuary of life and love.

Sagrada Familia, Ejemplo Para Todas Las Familias

Queridos discípulos,

Hoy celebramos la Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia: Jesús, María y José, una familia unida por el amor, la fe y la obediencia a Dios. Sus vidas no estuvieron libres de dificultades: enfrentaron la incertidumbre del exilio, los desafíos de resucitar al Mesías y las cargas silenciosas de la vida diaria. Sin embargo, nos enseñan cómo confiar en Dios en cada circunstancia.

En el Evangelio (Lucas 2,41-52), vemos un momento de tensión cuando el joven Jesús permanece en el templo mientras María y José lo buscan ansiosamente. Esta historia nos recuerda que incluso en una sagrada familia surgen malentendidos y desafíos. Pero también nos muestra que la clave para superarlos es el amor y la búsqueda conjunta de Dios. La humildad de María y José al aceptar la misión de Jesús —y su confianza en el plan de Dios— nos modelan cómo vivir como familias arraigadas en la fe.

Al reflexionar sobre la Sagrada Familia, recordamos que la santidad no se trata de perfección sino de esforzarse por amarnos, perdonarnos y apoyarnos unos a otros. Pidamos a la Sagrada Familia que guíe a nuestras propias familias, ayudándonos a crecer en la fe, la paciencia y el amor para que nosotros también podamos reflejar la presencia de Dios en nuestros hogares y en el mundo.

Que el Espíritu Santo ayude a nuestras familias a convertirse en lugares de paz y santidad, una iglesia doméstica y un santuario de vida y amor.
