Bearing Good Fruit: A Path to Discipleship and Integrity

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus uses simple but profound images to teach us about discipleship and integrity. He warns against hypocrisy, asking, “Can a blind person guide a blind person?” and urging us to first remove the “beam” from our own eye before judging others. Jesus reminds us that our words and actions flow from our hearts.

“A good person, out of the store of goodness in his heart, produces good.” If we want to bear good fruit, we must first cultivate goodness within. This means seeking a deep relationship with Christ, allowing His grace to transform us, and practicing humility and mercy.

As we prepare for Lent, let us examine our hearts. Do we nurture goodness, or do we let negativity take root? May we strive to be authentic followers of Christ, leading others not with judgment, but with love and truth. Come Holy Spirit, purify our hearts so that we may bear good fruit and reflect Your love in the world. Amen.

Dar buenos frutos: Un camino hacia el discipulado y la integridad

Queridos Discipulos, paz.

En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús usa imágenes simples pero profundas para enseñarnos sobre el discipulado y la integridad. Advierte contra la hipocresía y pregunta: “¿Puede un ciego guiar a otro ciego?” e instándonos a quitar primero el “rayo” de nuestro propio ojo antes de juzgar a los demás. Jesús nos recuerda que nuestras palabras y acciones fluyen de nuestro corazón.

“Una buena persona, del bien acumulado en su corazón, produce el bien”. Si queremos dar buenos frutos, primero debemos cultivar la bondad en nuestro interior. Esto significa buscar una relación profunda con Cristo, permitir que su gracia nos transforme y practicar la humildad y la misericordia.

Mientras nos preparamos para la Cuaresma, examinemos nuestros corazones. ¿Alimentamos la bondad o dejamos que la negatividad eche raíces? Que nos esforcemos por ser auténticos seguidores de Cristo, guiando a los demás no con juicio, sino con amor y verdad. Ven Espíritu Santo, purifica nuestros corazones para que demos buenos frutos y reflejemos Tu amor en el mundo. Amén.
