Striving Together: Entering Through the Narrow Gate

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today’s Gospel is a challenging one. Jesus is asked if only a few will be saved, and He replies that we must strive to enter through the narrow gate. The Lord reminds us that, as baptized Christians, we have a duty to continually pursue holiness. This means working to grow in virtue and setting aside our vices and disordered passions. We must keep our eyes fixed on Christ and on the mission He has entrusted to us.

The Christian life is one of continual growth, a steady progression toward the perfection to which the Lord calls us (Mt 5:48). Yet Jesus also assures us that many will come from every corner of the world to feast in the Kingdom of God.

With this, He gives us hope: by His grace, we can pass through the narrow gate and join the multi tude of saints in Heaven. So then, let us encourage and strengthen one another as fellow disciples of Christ, striving together to pass through the narrow gate and to take our place at the banquet table with Our Lord.

Esforzándonos juntos: Entrando por la puerta estrecha

Hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

El Evangelio de hoy es un desafío. Le preguntan a Jesús si solo unos pocos se salvarán, y él responde que debemos esforzarnos por entrar por la puerta estrecha. El Señor nos recuerda que, como cristianos bautizados, tenemos el deber de buscar continuamente la santidad. Esto significa esforzarnos por crecer en la virtud y dejar de lado nuestros vicios y pasiones desordenadas. Debemos mantener la mirada fija en Cristo y en la misión que nos ha confiado.

La vida cristiana es un crecimiento continuo, una progresión constante hacia la perfección a la que el Señor nos llama (Mt 5:48). Sin embargo, Jesús también nos asegura que muchos vendrán de todos los rincones del mundo para festejar en el Reino de Dios. Con esto, nos da esperanza: por su gracia, podemos cruzar la puerta estrecha y unirnos a la multitud de santos en el Cielo.

Así pues, animémonos y fortalezcámonos unos a otros como discípulos de Cristo, esforzándonos juntos por pasar por la puerta estrecha y ocupar nuestro lugar en la mesa del banquete con Nuestro Señor.
