The Epiphany of Our Lord

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord, when the Magi journeyed from distant lands to worship the newborn King. Their story is a powerful lesson in discipleship: following Christ often requires courage, perseverance, and the willing- ness to step beyond what is familiar.

The Magi followed a star, leaving behind comfort, security, and certainty. In doing so, they encountered the living God and offered Him their gifts. True discipleship calls us to the same openness: to seek Jesus with intention, to offer our time, talents, and treasures, and to let Him transform our lives.

Isaiah reminds us that God's light draws all nations (Isaiah 60:1-6), showing that discipleship is never limited to one culture or community-it is a call to witness and share the Good News wherever we are.

Three lessons from the Magi guide our discipleship today:

1. Discernment: Like the Magi, we are called to recognize the presence of God, even in unexpected places. Prayer and reflection help us see Christ in our daily lives.

2. Generosity: The gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh remind us that discipleship involves offering our best to God-not out of obligation, but out of love.

3. Courage: The Magi's journey was long and uncertain. Following Christ may challenge us, but it leads to the joy of encountering Him personally.

As we celebrate the Epiphany, may we, like the Magi, set out with faith and courage, bringing Christ's light to our families, workplaces, and communities, and offering our lives as a living gift to Him.

The Holy Spirit is the protagonist of such a journey of discipleship. May He help us to take the journey to our own experience with Christ's Epiphany.

Queridos Discipulos, paz.

Hoy celebramos la Fiesta de la Epifanía de Nuestro Senor, cuando los Reyes Magos viajaron desde tierras lejanas para adorar al Rey recién nacido. Su historia es una poderosa lección de discipulado: seguir a Cristo a menudo requiere valentía, perseverancia y la disposición a ir mas alla de lo conocido.

Los Reyes Magos siguieron una estrella, dejando atras la comodidad, la seguridad y la certeza. Al hacerlo, encontraron al Dios vivo y le ofrecieron sus dones. El verdadero discipulado nos llama a la misma apertura: buscar a Jesús con intención, ofrecer nuestro tiempo, talentos y tesoros, y dejar que Él transforme nuestras vidas.

Isaías nos recuerda que la luz de Dios atrae a todas las naciones (Isaías 60:1-6), mostrando que el discipulado nunca se limita a una cultura o comunidad: es un llamado a testificar y compartir las Buenas Nuevas dondequiera que estemos.

Tres lecciones de los Magos guían nuestro discipulado hoy:

1. Discernimiento: Como los Reyes Magos, estamos llamados a reconocer la presencia de Dios, incluso en los lugares mas inesperados. La oracion y la reflexión nos ayudan a ver a Cristo en nuestra vida diaria.

2. Generosidad: Los regalos de oro, incienso y mirra nos recuerdan que el discipulado implica ofrecer lo mejor de nosotros a Dios, no por obligacion, sino por amor.

3. Valor: El viaje de los Magos fue largo e incierto. Seguir a Cristo puede ser un desafío, pero nos lleva a la alegría de encontrarlo personalmente.

Al celebrar la Epifanía, que como los Reyes Magos, podamos partir con fe y valentía para llevar la luz de Cristo a nuestras familias, lugares de trabajo y comunidades, y ofrecerle nuestras vidas como un don vivo.

El Espíritu Santo es el protagonista de este camino de discipulado. Que nos ayude a recorrer el camino hacia nuestra propia experiencia con la Epifanía de Cristo.
