Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

In today's Gospel, Jesus says something striking: "I have come not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it." He is speaking to disciples - then and now - who might be tempted to reduce faith to rules, minimums, and appearances.

Discipleship, however, is not about doing just enough to avoid sin. It is about allowing the law of God to reach the heart. It is to strive for greatness with humility, to holiness with perseverance.

Jesus goes deeper: it is not enough not to kill; we must uproot anger. Not enough to avoid adultery; we must purify desire. Not enough to keep our word legally; our very "yes" must be trustworthy. The disciple does not ask, "What is permitted?" but rather, "What leads to love?"

Sirach reminds us that God sets before us life and death, good and evil - and respects our freedom. True discipleship always involves a choice: Will I follow Christ only outwardly, or will I let Him transform me inwardly?

Saint Paul tells us that this way of life is not human wisdom but God's hidden wisdom, revealed by the Spirit. Only grace can soften hardened hearts and make fidelity joyful rather than burdensome.

To be a disciple then, is to let Christ write His law not on stone tablets, but on our hearts - so that our thoughts, words, and actions reflect the love we have received.

May the Holy Spirit help us to choose life today by choosing Christ, and may our discipleship be visible not only in what we do, but in who we are becoming.

6° Domingo Del Tiempo Ordinario

Queridos Discipulos, paz.

En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesus dice algo impactante: "No he venido a abolir la ley, sino a darle cumplimiento". Se dirige a los discípulos - de entonces y de ahora - que podrían verse tentados a reducir la fe a reglas, mínimos y apariencias.

Sin embargo, el discipulado no se trata solo de hacer lo suficiente para evitar el pecado. Se trata de permitir que la ley de Dios llegue al corazón. Es esforzarse por alcanzar la grandeza con humildad y la santidad con perseverancia.

Jesús va más allá: no basta con no matar; debemos erradicar la ira. No basta con evitar el adulterio; debemos purificar el deseo. No basta con cumplir nuestra palabra legalmente; nuestro propio "sí" debe ser confiable. El discípulo no pregunta: "¿Qué está permitido?", sino: "¿Qué conduce al amor?"

El Siracida nos recuerda que Dios nos propone la vida y la muerte, el bien y el mal, y respeta nuestra libertad. El verdadero discipulado siempre implica una elección: ¿Seguiré a Cristo solo exteriormente o dejaré que Él me transforme interiormente?

San Pablo nos dice que este estilo de vida no es sabiduría humana, sino la sabiduría oculta de Dios, revelada por el Espíritu. Solo la gracia puede ablandar los corazones endurecidos y hacer que la fidelidad sea gozosa en lugar de pesada.

Ser discípulo, entonces, es dejar que Cristo escriba su ley no en tablas de piedra, sino en nuestros corazones, para que nuestros pensamientos, palabras y acciones reflejen el amor que hemos recibido.

Que el Espíritu Santo nos ayude a elegir la vida hoy eligiendo a Cristo, y que nuestro discipulado sea visible no sólo en lo que hacemos, sino en quiénes nos estamos convirtiendo.
