Living the Beatitudes

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

Today, in the Gospel, Jesus proclaims the Beatitudes - the heart of His teaching and the portrait of a true disciple. He does not describe a life of power or comfort, but a life transformed by humility, mercy, and hunger for righteousness. The disciple of Jesus is not shaped by the values of the world, but by the heart of Christ.

"Blessed are the poor in spirit ... the meek ... the merciful ... the peacemakers." These are not passive people. They are men and women who have chosen to trust God more than themselves, to love rather than dominate, to forgive rather than retaliate. Discipleship, then, is not simply following rules; it is allowing Jesus to reshape our way of seeing, feeling, and responding.

The Beatitudes remind us that true happiness is not found in having more, but in becoming more - more compassionate, more gentle, more faithful. To walk with Christ is to live a quiet revolution of love in a noisy world of self-assertion.

As disciples, we are invited today to stand with Jesus on the mountain and listen again to His voice. May these words sink into our hearts, so that our lives may become living Beatitudes - signs of God's Kingdom already among us.

May the Holy Spirit open our ears to listen Jesus' voice and follow it.

Vivir las Bienaventuranzas

Queridos Discipulos, paz.

Hoy, en el Evangelio, Jesús proclama las Bienaventuranzas, el corazón de su enseñanza y la imagen de un verdadero discípulo. No describe una vida de poder ni comodidad, sino una vida transformada por la humildad, la misericordia y el anhelo de justicia. El discípulo de Jesús no se moldea por los valores del mundo, sino por el corazón de Cristo.

"Bienaventurados los pobres de espíritu ... los mansos ... los misericordiosos ... los pacificadores." Estas no son personas pasivas. Son hombres y mujeres que han elegido confiar en Dios más que en sí mismos, amar en lugar de dominar, perdonar en lugar de vengarse. El discipulado, entonces, no es simplemente seguir reglas; es permitir que Jesús transforme nuestra manera de ver, sentir y responder.

Las Bienaventuranzas nos recuerdan que la verdadera felicidad no reside en tener más, sino en ser más: más compasivos, más amables, más fieles. Caminar con Cristo es vivir una silenciosa revolución de amor en un mundo ruidoso de autoafirmación.

Como discípulos, hoy estamos invitados a estar con Jesús en la montaña y escuchar de nuevo su voz. Que estas palabras penetren en nuestro corazón, para que nuestras vidas se conviertan en Bienaventuranzas vivas, signos del Reino de Dios que ya está entre nosotros.

Que el Espíritu Santo abra nuestros oídos para escuchar la voz de Jesús y seguirla.
