Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

Jesus’ parable of the wheat and the weeds reminds us that the Kingdom of God grows in the midst of a broken world. We often wish that God would immediately remove all evil, yet the Lord is patient. He gives time for conversion, allowing the wheat to mature without being uprooted along with the weeds.

This Gospel first calls us to discipleship. Every disciple must honestly recognize that the battle between wheat and weeds is not only in the world but also within the human heart. "Our heart is a battlefield" (Saint Teresa of Jesus). Christ patiently cultivates the good seed He has planted in us through prayer, the sacraments, charity, and daily fidelity. Rather than judging others, we are invited to cooperate with God’s grace so that the fruits of holiness may flourish in our own lives.

The Gospel also sends us on a mission. Like the mustard seed and the yeast, disciples do not need to be numerous or powerful to transform the world. Small acts of faith, forgiveness, mercy, and hope become instruments through which God’s Kingdom quietly expands. The missionary disciple trusts that God is always at work, even when the results seem hidden or delayed.

As we celebrate the Eucharist, let us ask the Lord to make us good wheat in His field, faithful disciples who persevere in holiness and courageous missionaries who sow the seeds of the Kingdom with patience and love, confident that, at the final harvest, Christ will bring His work to perfection.

May the Holy Spirit, our heavenly dew, shower on us His life and light, to be the good wheat of God in the world.

16.º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

Queridos Discípulos, paz.

La parábola de Jesús sobre el trigo y la cizaña nos recuerda que el Reino de Dios crece en medio de un mundo quebrantado. A menudo deseamos que Dios elimine de inmediato todo el mal, pero el Señor es paciente. Él da tiempo para la conversión, permitiendo que el trigo madure sin ser arrancado junto con la cizaña.

Este Evangelio nos llama, en primer lugar, al discipulado. Todo discípulo debe reconocer con sinceridad que la batalla entre el trigo y la cizaña no solo se libra en el mundo, sino también en el corazón humano. “Nuestro corazón es un campo de batalla” (Santa Teresa de Jesús). Cristo cultiva pacientemente la buena semilla que ha sembrado en nosotros mediante la oración, los sacramentos, la caridad y la fidelidad diaria. En lugar de juzgar a los demás, se nos invita a cooperar con la gracia de Dios para que los frutos de la santidad florezcan en nuestras propias vidas.

El Evangelio también nos impulsa a la misión. Al igual que la semilla de mostaza y la levadura, los discípulos no necesitan ser numerosos ni poderosos para transformar el mundo. Pequeños actos de fe, perdón, misericordia y esperanza se convierten en instrumentos a través de los cuales el Reino de Dios se expande silenciosamente. El discípulo misionero confía en que Dios siempre está obrando, incluso cuando los resultados parecen ocultos o demorados.

Al celebrar la Eucaristía, pidamos al Señor que nos convierta en buen trigo en su campo, discípulos fieles que perseveren en la santidad y misioneros valientes que siembren las semillas del Reino con paciencia y amor, confiando en que, en la cosecha final, Cristo perfeccionará su obra.

Que el Espíritu Santo, nuestro rocío celestial, derrame sobre nosotros su vida y su luz, para que seamos el buen trigo de Dios en el mundo.
