The Harvest and the Laborers

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

Jesus used the metaphor of the harvest and the laborers as a way to talk about the need to have co-workers, collaborators in the mission. It is just too much work to be done just by one person. Those available to help are few. Hence the need to recruit a group so that the harvest will not go into waste.

Applied to the disciples, this metaphor shows the importance of the mission of proclaiming the Gospel to all peoples, following Jesus' footsteps. Without the disciples it would not be possible to reach all humanity, as the Father wishes it.

It also emphasizes the conscience to be servants, responsible for something which is not their own, the Kingdom of God, but which they also have received. Their responsible stewardship will prevent the harvest from going into waste.

This reflection makes me think about our Capital Campaign as a way to collaborate with God for the future, growth and success of our ministry and the benefit of those we serve, in His Name, today and in the future. We have the chance, financially and spiritually, to build the Kingdom of God, very concretely right here in Murfreesboro. God's grace will never permit us to fail. So, let us keep pressing forward.

La Cosecha y Los Obreros

Queridos discípulos, paz.

Jesús usó la metáfora de la mies y los trabajadores como una forma de hablar de la necesidad de tener colaboradores, colaboradores en la misión. Es demasiado trabajo para que lo haga una sola persona. Los disponibles para ayudar son pocos. De ahí la necesidad de reclutar un grupo para que la cosecha no se desperdicie.

Aplicada a los discípulos, esta metáfora muestra la importancia de la misión de anunciar el Evangelio a todos los pueblos, siguiendo las huellas de Jesús. Sin los discípulos no sería posible llegar a toda la humanidad, como lo quiere el Padre.

También enfatiza la conciencia de ser servidores, responsables de algo que no es suyo, el Reino de Dios, pero que también han recibido. Su administración responsable evitará que la cosecha se desperdicie.

Esta reflexión me hace pensar en nuestra Campaña Capital como una forma de colaborar con Dios para el futuro, crecimiento y éxito de nuestro ministerio y el beneficio de aquellos a quienes servimos, en Su Nombre, hoy y en el futuro. Tenemos la oportunidad, financiera y espiritualmente, de construir el Reino de Dios, muy concretamente aquí mismo en Murfreesboro. La gracia de Dios nunca permitirá que fracasemos. Entonces, sigamos presionando hacia adelante.
