Staying United: Upcoming Changes to the Parish Schedule and Pandemic Precautions

05-09-2021Weekly ReflectionFr. John Sims Baker

As we are able to reduce the precautions that we have been practicing during the pandemic, it is a good time to reevaluate our parish liturgy schedule as well as the precautions themselves. I am in consultation with the priests, deacons, and staff of the parish about these changes. I am happy to say that I think that Saint Rose of Lima Parish is emerging from the pandemic in a stronger position than when it began. I am also very grateful to say that we have done so because we have stayed united as a parish. That has taken a willingness to sacrifice our own personal opinions and preferences for the good of staying united. Thank you! And let's keep that spirit of unity going!

I am not yet prepared to announce all the changes, but I want to let you know that they are coming. The target date for implementation is Sunday, June 13. The school and PSR year will be complete by that time, and we will have begun the transition to summer. The week before is Totus Tuus Week, which has its own unique schedule. In more ways that one, June 13 is the first Sunday back in Ordinary Time so that is our target.

There will be changes to the Sunday and weekday schedules, as well as further reductions in the pandemic precautions. I will be communicating the changes well in advance, and we will try to have everything set to change together on June 13. Thanks again for your patience and for your commitment to staying together as a parish! It is a great witness to the unity we are called to in our Catholic faith as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Faithfully,
Fr. Baker

Fielmente,
El p. Baker
